Saint Ursula Volleyball Team
Overcomes Player Shortage
on Their Comeback

The Saint Ursula Volleyball Team has finally bounced back with renewed vigor to compete in EKSPRESO by holding a selection process on Monday, August 7th, 2023, for prospective students at their school field.

The Saint Ursula Volleyball Team, also known as the SUVB Team, is having a comeback because there is an upcoming EKSPRESO competition. EKSPRESO itself is a big arts and sports competition that will be held by the Saint Ursula Senior High School Student Council in early September 2023. With the SUVB Team’s own school hosting the event, they are eager to do their best and win in their home competition."We want to search for new seedlings to be included in the team as well as prepare the next generation of the Saint Ursula Volleyball team, as most of them are now in the 12th grade and will graduate soon," said Coach Yayan. In the meantime, the SUVB Team has to face a challenge, which is the shortage of players.With the help of Coach Yayan, the SUVB Team tackled this challenge by conducting a selection process. "The team members and I assessed their overall fitness and height. We also analyze their volleyball playing techniques, such as passing, serving, and spiking," according to Coach Yayan. Coach Yayan also said that the most important things that SUVB team players and he take into consideration are the candidates' attitude and mentality when facing a volleyball game.Coach Yayan stated that the most significant way to revitalize the SUVB right now is to use the talent already on hand. With the plan in place, expectations for SUVB started rising. "My hope is that a new generation of Sanur players will arise to strengthen the team's level in the future," said Catherine, one of the SUVB team members.Through this careful selection process, the aspiration is for the SUVB Team to undergo intensive training, ultimately preparing both physically and mentally. Winning the Budi Mulia Trinity Cup 2020, 2nd place in the Canisius College Cup 2019, and also in the SMAK One Cup 2022, makes SUVB ready to maintain the achievements and pride that have been achieved.
